Coming Sooooon....

Stay tuned for the new face of Sugarpickle.etsy.com!

I have been neglecting my wilder little shop, focusing mainly on Folk, but the warmer weather (and this fabulous woman) is inspiring me to go back to where it all began.

Also, a super cool link!!  I love green stuff: Crafting Green World

It's been a while.

Episode ONE of my Favorite Etsy Sellers:

Fresh, stylish, unique, beautiful...ooh so many words to describe this gem of a shop!  It was hard to choose just a few items to feature.   Built-from-scratch, retro-inspired clothing adorns the virtual walls of this shop.  And not only are the items themselves lovely, but the photography is a treat to look at, with natural lighting and lush, natural backgrounds. Here are a few of my personal favorites:

One of my favorite color combinations.  Great, sleek lines, too.

Green & white is alright!  Hehe, I know, I'm a dork.  But it's still gorgeous.

Birds and reverse applique.  Need I say more?

I love white.  I love frills.  I love skirts blowing in the wind!

Uggghhhh....

Sooo.....I guess I'm supposed to put something here.  A picture, a bit of text.  I suppose I feel like I ought to post since it's been, like, two months!!  I am no good at the blog thing; I wish I was.

I feel like I've been all over the place with the craft thing.  Making a thing or two here, a thing or two there.  Tonight I made a totally radical bow out of Perler Beads.  (Trust me, it's great.)  I'll have to post a picture.  And...I've been doing a lot of knitting.  I work on one project a little, and then decide I need a new one.  (Isn't that how it always goes?)  My yarn basket overfloweth.

Ok.  I guess I'll shut up now and post when I have something to say.   Peace.

Last but Not Least...

Alright.  Here is something special, the Raisin Beret.  I found this pattern at the blog Snowball Crafts in Hell.  Please check it out.  This is exciting for several reasons:

1. It is beautiful and EXACTLY what I've been looking for.
2. It is simple enough that even I can do it.
3.  I just happened to already have the exact yarn it called for*, and it being with no designated project yet.
4.  I am not finished with it and can post pictures of the work in progress.
5.  Mine actually looks JUST LIKE HERS!!!!  (So I must be doing something right!)

*...with the exception of the color, and unfortunately, I can't tell you what color this is, because I don't know.

Simple Wristwarmers

Yep, the title says it all.  Why bother with making a separate tube for the thumb when you can just make a hole?  That is my preferred (lazy) method of operation.    These are just rectangles knitted in stockinette and seed stitch, which are then sewn up the sides.   Made with the awesomest yarn, Sugar N Cream, in a new color, Terra Firma.

Camo socks! (eww, camo....)

This is kind of embarrassing, but I didn't know these were going to turn out this way.  (I could have guessed it, easily, but sometimes I'm a little slow.)  Nevertheless, I do like them!!  They are made from Comfort, one of my favorite yarns cuz it's not only soft and machine washable but CHEAP, and I used a super simple pattern I got when I took my first (and only) sock class at my fave (and almost only) LYS, Twist.  OKAY!  On to pictures!ps--the color is actually called "Antipasto Mix", so I don't feel so bad. Hehe.

FOLK on etsy!

So, for a while I have been thinking about opening a new etsy shop (in addition to my old one, of course.)   SugarPickle is my um....wild?...side.  Bright, colorful, eclectic, sometimes a bit confusing.  And, naturally, I can't say goodbye to that.  Why would I?

I felt, though, that there was something lacking.  Sometimes I like to make a piece that is a little more refined, a little steampunk, a little victorian, a little prairie, or just a little subdued.  So I started Folk.  This is where my more "refined" creations are going.  What's that you say?  Why, yes, I do have some pics of the new products!

I only have these three up right now, but will be adding a few more pieces this week, and hopefully will be updating weekly, at least.

Update...sort of

What happened to the picture of kjoo's bracelet?  Crazy etsy...

My craft life has been very fulfilling and pretty productive lately, which is good, but that leaves little time for the 'puter.  (LOL, yeah, right....)  But that's why I haven't been updating.  Seriously.  It's not like I'm lazy or anything.  I have some new ideas brewing, which I may (or may not) discuss on here shortly.

That's my update for now.  Hope it was vaguely (un)informative.
